Crosby Mansion - #13, card

$3.00

A delightful surprise awaits those who venture a little way off Main Street down Brewster's Crosby Lane. One of those ostentatious expressions of sudden wealth that enliven so many American towns, the Crosby Mansion is a strange architectural hodge-podge if there ever was one. Added to and changed and revised many times since the original structure was built almost 200 years ago, the mansion reveals in its accretions of styles the fads of many periods. It was in turn a house, an art gallery, a derelict, a conservatory of music, a restaurant, and a camp for overweight girls. It is now owned by the state as part of its parks system, and a group called Friends of the Crosby Mansion is raising money to restore the quaint old pile.

Karen has added this view of Cape Cod Bay, seen through the Mansion's arcade, to the collection of prints and cards of her paintings sold at many galleries and shops including her Underground Art Gallery in Brewster.
