The congregation is 300 years old, but the building is only about half that age. Yet, a building built in 1834—particularly one as appealing as this—can be a lovely landmark, set as it is among the trees along historic Route 6A. Nicknamed "the Church of the Sea Captains" in the days of clipper ships when almost 40 of their masters were members there, this congregation is officially named First Parish Brewster, and is a Unitrarian Universalist Church.

This painting shows the walk that leads from the Brewster Store, past a little park, to the church. On summer days, the walk is often crowded with tourists and townspeople alike.
