he sunfish, identified not only by its distinctive design but also by the familiar silhouette on the sail, is one of the world's most popular classes of sailboats. Weighing in at under 130 pounds, it's easy to transport and fun to sail. The wide selection of sail colors is familiar to anyone near water but seldom are so many of their bright patterns seen reflected as the ones artist Karen North Wells caught here at a woodland pond. 

"I was discombobulated," says Wells. "When I saw those shimmering reflections flashing their echoes across the pond, I knew I'd have to get to work painting them right away."
