Records show that as early as 1858 this quaint little building was not only a country store but was also a post office and a railway station. It remained a post office until 1972. Cranberries from the nearby bogs were shipped by rail until the bike trail replaced the tracks.

When Karen captured this scene in 1989, the appealing little flare was still evident at the eaves, and the benches had not yet been labeled "Democrats" and "Republicans." The store is now a popular stop for hikers and bikers who use the trail.
